Pianist Jack Madry performs in a jazz style reflecting lifelong Gospel and R&B influences. He studied with classical and jazz pianists Gary Chapman of Connecticut and Boston’s own jazz great Dick Odgren. Jack has performed extensively in a variety of Connecticut venues including the Hot Peas and Butter Club in New Haven and Foxwoods Resort Casino in Ledyard.
Performing in a variety of formats from solo to quintet, Jack is known for surrounding himself with some of the finest jazz musicians in the region, always eager to share the stage with him. He has been highly appreciated as a regular performer at art openings of the Alexey von Schlippe Gallery of Art at UCONN Avery Point, practically since the gallery’s inception. Jack played Friday nights at the Old Lyme Inn in Old Lyme and Saturdays at the Radisson Hotel and at Tony D’s in New London.
Jack has developed and created his own unique approach to jazz being heavily influenced by music greats Bill Evans, Erroll Garner, Duke Ellington, and Jobim. His listening audience has included Steve Tyler and his band, Aero Smith, Luther Vandross, Sophia Loren, the Soprano cast as well as accompanying movie great Jackie Chan in solo.
Jack has played privately for many more celebrity stars including the late Kathryn Hepburn, New York journalist Liz Smith, and Good Morning America’s Lara Spence and Cynthia McFadden just to name a few.
For the last 15 years Jack has played predominately at Foxwoods Resort Casino in venues such as the Atrium Lounge, Intermezzo Jazz Club, B.B. King Lounge, and debuted at the Grand Pequot Tower since its opening where he presently plays four nights weekly from Thursday through Sunday.
